Urgent Care Director
Hello! My name is Nicole and I am the director of Urgent Care. This exciting program includes mental health services offered through the Behavioral Health Court, Homeless Outreach Team, Hospital Discharge Team, the Mental Co-Responder collaboration with Lawrence Police Department, services at the Douglas County Correctional Facility, and Crisis Services. In addition to working with a committed group of professionals, another rewarding part of my role at Bert Nash is the opportunity to engage with community members and our community partners.
As a Lawrence native and graduate of KU, I’ve built many meaningful relationships with people and worked in collaboration with many outstanding agencies. With more than 20 years in the mental health field, I am excited about the continued efforts to raise awareness about mental illness and to be part of an organization that instills hope and aids in the recovery of those who need it. Part of my passion is to reduce stigma related to mental illness and educate people about mental health care, specifically as it relates to crisis services. This is especially important for populations that are under served. In addition, I enjoy mentoring and assisting with the professional development of new clinicians and future leaders in the mental health field.
When I’m not working, I enjoy are traveling, music, singing, fishing, enjoying family and friends, or simply relaxing with a good movie or a long nap. Whatever I’m doing, it will likely include a strong cup of black coffee!
